UPDATE AUG 2021 – We are sorry to have to inform you that Mt Martha Farmers’ Market will not be going ahead in the short-term. To our disappointment, and despite our best efforts, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and Heritage Victoria will not grant us permission to operate on our existing site at 466 Esplanade with any more than 10 vehicles. Given the nature of the market and the need for stallholders to have vehicles with them for cold storage and food preparation etc, this means it is not possible or viable for us to operate.
We are frustrated and disheartened by the lack of support we have received, especially in light of how hard hit so many small producers have been during COVID-19 and how critical it is for markets like ours to be able to start up again to provide a safe, outdoor and ethical place to shop.
We will continue to explore our options to re-launch the market in the future, however, we have now lost significant momentum, which has been really hard on our stallholders and our team. We will take a break over the new year period and reassess our options from there
We’d like to thank you for your continued support and hope to have happier news in the future.
Thank you, the Market Team
